Maybe you are just beginning to dabble in makeup, and you have watched plenty YouTube tutorials long enough to know there are plenty of tips and tricks to beat your face like a pro. Simply watching the tutorials may not be enough though, and with the market flooded with numerous products to choose from, it can be tough figuring out exactly what you need in your makeup kit.

However, we got you. No need to be confused by the thousands of products on the cosmetic shelves.

While there are no hard and fast rules in makeup, because, well, we can do our makeup whichever way we want to, the trick is to start slow, with confidence, and master the basic techniques and neutral and you’ll be a makeup pro in no time.

Here are the must have essentials we have rounded to start you off on your makeup journey.

For the Face

Moisturizer & Primer: Well applied makeup begins with great skincare. Prep your skin by generously slathering moisturizer and primer. This will ensure you have a flawless base that keeps your makeup in place all day.

Foundation: one basic makeup essential you should first think of is the foundation. This is because it evens out your skin tone, leaving you with a flawless complexion. Opt for a full-coverage foundation that matches your skin tone.

Concealer: As a beginner, you can avoid the risk of caked-on foundation by adding an opaque concealer to your makeup kit. This also allows you to use less foundation and no one will be able to tell where your skin ends and the makeup begins. Concealer also helps awaken the under eyes and delete any blemishes from the skin.

Setting powder: you apply the setting powder once you are done with the base makeup, that is, the blush, eyes, and eyebrows.

For the Eyes

Eyeliner: Having an eyeliner is important for those moments you want to bump up your makeup from morning to evening. There is no need to fiddle around with applying false lashes too – use the eyeliner to give the illusion of thicker fringe. You can either use an eyebrow pencil or liquid eyeliner.

Mascara: Mascara adds dramatic length to your lashes. Apply mascara to your eyelashes after you have applied the eyeliner and eyeshadow.

Eyeshadow palette: if you are experimenting with eyeshadows, the palette is perfectly essential to a good makeup bag. It offers a range of colors to choose from. For a beginner, choose one that is neutral in color so that it will go along with your everyday clothing choices.

For the Lips

Lip balm:  The lip balm is an important basic makeup essential. It helps to keep your lips moisturized.

Lipstick: No kit is complete without any go-to lip colors. The lipstick is universally flattering and versatile. Apply lipstick on your lower and upper lips. Red lipstick is a start.

And voila! Your pretty face is ready for the world.
